Catherine Lynne Sjoberg-Missing 41 Years

ON June 5, 1974, 16 year-old Catherine Lynne Sjoberg attended her junior prom at Concord House dance hall off I-94 in Concord, Wisconsin. She got into an argument with her boyfriend at 3 AM, and stepped out for a breath of fresh air. She was last seen leaving her Oconomowoc High School prom that night, and was never seen or heard from again. Catherine was supposed to spend the night at her friend's house, so her mother did not realize she was missing until the next day.

Catherine was 5'5" and 120 pounds when she went missing. She had brown hair and green eyes and went by the nickname Cathy. She had previously broken her collarbone and has pierced ears. She has a freckled complexion and high cheek bones. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a light blue formal gown with brown and pink trim along with white flowers, a corsage, gold pin, a gold chain and high-heeled shoes.

Catherine's mother has insisted her daughter did not run away. She had many obligations that were very important to her coming up. For one, she was supposed to serve as the maid of honor at a family wedding. Also, She was scheduled to distribute programs at Oconomowoc High School commencement the day after her disappearance. Her mother said it was very unlike her to miss out on these events. She is described by many as a happy teenager who had no reason to run away.

Catherine was last seen leaving Concord House on June 5, 1974. She vanished after she stepped outside and has not been seen or heard form since.
There were countless suspects and searches done following Cathy's disappearance. At first, her boyfriend was the prime suspect in her disappearance. He passed a polygraph test and was ruled out as a suspect. Edward Edwards, the convicted murdered of young couple Timothy Hack and Kelly Drew, who vanished from a wedding dance at Concord House on August 9, 1980, was also looked at as a suspect. However, he was not even in Wisconsin at the time of Cathy's disappearance in 1974. Countless unidentified bodies in Wisconsin were also looked at as possibly being Cathy, but all of those proved to be false hope. In 1995, 21 years after she vanished, Cathy's family had a memorial service for her-without her remains. To this day, they still search for her, and hope to be able to give her a proper burial.

I spent some time searching other Wisconsin cases that were unresolved. Many I could not see connected, but there was one disappearance that was very suspicious. On August 26, 1973, 16 year-old Orin Anderson was last seen at a park in Mequon, Wisconsin. He was carrying his ID and fishing license at the time he vanished. There are very few details to aid in explanation of his disappearance, but he is marked as endangered missing, not a run away. He vanished one year before Cathy. Mequon is 45 minutes from Concord, where Cathy vanished.
