Allison Marie Mims vanished on December 23, 1980 when she was 19 years old. She was driving a drunk wedding guest home for the night. She was last seen around midnight. Her car was found abandoned days later. She vanished in Glendale, AZ.
Recently in 2010, partial remains found in an Arizona desert were identified as Allison Marie Mims. Actually, she was found on May 28, 1987 in the desert by Interstate 17 and Carefree Highway, but her remains were not identified until 2010. It appalled me that she had been recovered for over two decades, but not identified. It makes a person wonder how many other missing children or persons are out there that are found, but not yet have a name put to the remains. Especially in cold cases. A lot of those seem to be resurfacing-like Jeannie Melville, found a year after she vanished, but not identified until decades later.
I do not know if they have any leads on suspects, as foul play is suspected. Despite her case as being cold and lacking attention, we can only hope they get some answers soon. I'd like to see justice for this girl and the family that has waited so long.
My heart goes out to Ali and her family for their loss of a beautiful young woman. After all these agonizing years, I hope they find peace. Finally. God Bless.
**Update: I know this update is behind, but there are so many people who visit Allie's page and still read her story on here (1,089 reads as of 11/27/13 to be exact), that I wanted to place an official update of what has happened so far. It looks like her case has been solved. In November 2010, 50 year-old Patrick Ryon was arrested for the murder of Allison Marie Mims. This man had other offenses on his record, namely being sexual assault, and it sounds like he may have been a suspect all along.
According to Arizona Republic, Ryon was the drunk wedding guest whom Allison offered to drive home the night she vanished. He was eventually apprehended by the U.S. Marshall in northeast Albuquerque, and finding Allie's remains gave investigators what they needed to finally arrest him. I am so glad her family has go justice, and that this man will not be hurting anyone again. Although this is not the ending I ever hope for for any family, there is peace in the fact that at least her family has an ending and some type of resolution. I hope for the same in many other cases on here-that there will be closure.

Could it be that the drunk wedding guest is responsible but without a body they didn´t have enough evidence to charge him (or her)?
ReplyDeleteThis is my best friends sister, I am so sorry for the family and their loss. This has been a long hall for them and I hope that this will bring some closure to their hearts. Allison will always be remembered in our hearts.

ReplyDeleteThis case is one of the biggest cluster ----- I have ever seen. They know who did the crime they even have witnesses that the suspect told that he strangled a girl do death around the same time as Alie was missing the vehicle she was driving was sold at a police sanctioned auction 1.5 years after she was reported missing./There were two other sets of remains found near hers and the police can not find them now. I know more. AZ PI

ReplyDeleteHi-
ReplyDeleteI work with FOX-10 in Phoenix, Arizona.
I'm interested in talking to the family of Allison Mims regarding the arrest of Patrick Ryon.
Can you please call me at 602-262-5109.
Thank you-
Liz
This man does indeed have a family. And we love him. This whole thing is far more itracit then what meets the eye. He does deserve a far trial. And yes, Ali deserves justice. We loved her also. Although I never got to meet her. She was apart of our family also.
ReplyDeleteWho are you? I'm looking for his family, I'm his daughter.
DeleteI new Allie well, she was care free and adventures. I remember when she disappeared. really hoped she had left for Mexico some other tropical place. Thought of her many times over the years and our road trip where I hit a squirrel and almost wreaked her car. She lectured me on the skills of driving. She was a strong beautiful women who made an impression on all who knew her. My prayers our with her sister and the children of Debbie.
ReplyDeleteSad case...and totally preventable. I get that she was an adult but no 19 year old should've been driving a drunk wedding guest home...especially a guy.
ReplyDeleteMake a guy at the wedding offer his driving services or tell him to start walking.
Stories like this one infuriate me.
They were eating brown people with jeffrey dahmer and her family dissapproved so a relative killed her and no one wanted to turn him in.
