Ashley Freeman & Lauria (Laura) Bible-Missing 13 Years.

Lauria Bible had brown hair and hazel eyes. She has pierced ears, a scar on top of her head and a mole under her nose. Lauria is right handed and her nickname is "Pooh." She was last seen possibly wearing a blue shirt, jeans, white tennis shoes or black boots and silver heart-shaped earrings with embedded diamonds. Lauria was last 5'5" and 130 pounds.

Ashley Freeman had dark blonde hair and blue eyes. She had an athletic build in 1999 and has a scar on the upper left side of her forehead. Ashley was last seen possibly wearing a t-shirt, jeans, a baseball cap, white tennis shoes, a windbreaker and a class ring inscribed with the phrase "Bluejacket High School Class Of 2000." She was 5'7" and 145 pounds.

At 6 AM on December 30, 1999, a motorist reported a trailer house that was on fire, burning to the ground. After much search in the debris, Kathy & Danny Freeman's remains were identified though the rubble. The disturbing part is they didn't die of the fire set to the house-they died of gun shot wounds. The fire appeared to be purposely set, most likely to cover up the murders. But most concerning of all was that Ashley Freeman and Lauria (Laura) Bible, both 16, were missing. Their remains were not found in the rubble. Lauria's car was found outside, and her purse was found inside the house, along her wallet and cash inside. Both of the girls have not been seen or heard from since.

The previous day before, Lauria was helping Ashley celebrate her 16th birthday. Her father had given her permission to spend the night at Ashley's as long as she was home before noon. The girls had been friends since kindergarten. They are missing from Welch, Oklahoma.

There are so many rumors in these girls' disappearance, and I have studied them all. One that I think is credible would have to do with Ashley's brother, Shane Freeman (not naming him as the person responsible). He had behavior problems. He was abused by his father, with could be the trigger for some of his actions. He also broke in to Ashley's friend's house, which happened to be Lauria, the girl she vanished with, and stole her money and belongings. He also stole several of their firearms. Now here's where this gets interesting. On January 8, Shane was in possession of a stolen car that had broken down. He was shot and killed by Officer Hayes, who claims that Shane had pulled a firearm out, giving him the right to shoot in self defense. The Freeman's had always believed Officer Hayes had used intimidation as an excuse to kill their son, and on December 29th, they filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the sheriff's office.

Now, Danny Freeman's brother (Vancil) had said Danny came up to him and told him that if anything happened to himself or his family, look at the sheriff's department. I believe it is credible that the Freeman's murder could have been a result of a feud. I don't want to point any fingers, because at this point in the investigation, we have no idea what happened. Still, the girls could have been there wrong place, wrong time, but were killed because of what they had seen by the perp(s). Or they could have been abducted and killed elsewhere to throw any suspicion away from any authority involved? This could be a case of those officers abusing their power, and making an attempt to cover it up. Maybe that's why this case hasn't gotten anywhere in years-both the murders and the disappearances. A lie detector test was also given the the Officer who shot Shane in self defense, but the results were never released. It was only mentioned that theory of LE being involved was no longer being investigated.

The next theory I agree with is Shane could have been into drugs, whether that meant dealing them or taking them. Maybe after Shane's death, killing off his family and taking the girls was the next best thing to pay off a drug debt.
Jeremy Jones has admitted to killing off the family and abducting and killing the girls later on to help a buddy. He told a tale of killing Ashely's parents with a gun, and even named the correct fire arm weapon used, which was not released to the public. He then set the house ablaze, and found Ashley and Laura, running out of the house and asking for help. Jeremy Jones claims he took the girls, drove them to Galena, Kansas, where he disposed of them in a mineshaft. The only thing is, he was arrested at 4 AM and the house burnt down at 6.
Police searched the area, and found it difficult because there were hundreds of mine shafts. They did not find anything. I believe it is possible Jeremy committed these crimes, especially if he had friends to help him out, which may explain that time gap that is a little off in the time line. I actually find this theory WAY more credible than the Sheriff Department one, or any other. Just because the girls were not found, does not mean they were not there. We are talking hundreds of mine shafts, with hundreds of tunnels, with water in them. Even if he did give them the correct area, over time, it is possible they would have moved, due to the natural elements. I know many believe the sheriff department angle, but I believe Jeremy Jones definitely at least knows what happened to them, even if he is not the one who did it.

The third one I hate to consider, but first did was the girls, or possibly just Ashley, could have murdered  Danny Freeman as an act of trying to defend herself or her mother. I do believe that Ashley was sexually abused by her father, as her brother was physically abused by him, but some of these claims were later acquitted. While both girls seem well natured and definitely not sinister enough to do such a thing, Ashley seems to have come from a broken home. She could have committed the crime and ran away, taking Lauria with her. If that was the case, they could both still be alive. Although this is one of the theories out there, it is one I strongly disagree with. I think these girls are strictly victims, not runaways. I also believe Lauria was  there at the wrong place, wrong time.

Either way, they need to be found. Lauria Bible's family is still searching for them, and is holding a vigil this December 30, 2009. A big billboard with the girls' faces smiling down on their town remains posted, with the mission to keep their stories alive, and to find answers. The girls were also featured on ID's Disappeared. I will post it's youtube.com link below so readers can watch it.
Please have a heart and report any tips, ANY TIPS you have about the girls' disappearance of the murder of Danny and Kathy Freeman.

    1. You're dead on, Craig County should be checked out. But they never will be too many involved in Shane's death and the family's death one year later. Nobody seems to ever mention when Shane stole the vehicle he was found in and killed, that he had left town in fear of his life, he told a family member he had to get out of town because they were going to kill him (who killed him?) should tell you right there if he knew he was going to be killed and was later killed by a Craig County police officer that Craig County should be checked. No one ever reports either that Deputy David Hayes #156 Craig County Sheriff Officer who shot and killed Shane was just recently relocated to Craig County Sheriffs department just a few weeks before this incident because he had shot and killed another young boy in another county. They also fail to mention that one of the first officers to arrive at the scene was David Hayes brother Officer Mark Hayes #152.

  2. I think it has something to do with drugs. Someone came in to kill the 2 adults and burn down the house, thats when they noticed the 2 girls. The killer didn't want to leave witnesses so he killed the two girls and got rid of the bodies. The girls were in the wrong place at the wrong time. This whole family was killed off, this is sad.

    1. Do you realize how stupid that is? If it was the scenario you're suggesting, they wouldn't have bothered moving the girls. Why? They left two adults.

They probably went in for the girls, killed the parents so they'd have no defense, and torched the house to make it harder to realize it was a deliberate abduction. Probably human trafficking, since quantity matters, and not an isolated torture abduction. Kidnappers looking for isolated torture/killing will break in for one kid, or snag them off the street.

  3. They have been missing 13 years, not 20.
