On December 4, 1974, 17 year old Laurie Partridge left her Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington due to stomach cramps. She was walking the 2 miles to her home because she was not able to find a ride home. She was last seen by 37th and Havana Street. Laurie failed to go to her work at Lincoln Heights Theater and hasn't been heard from since.
Two days later, contents of her purse were found near the area where she was last seen. Her father had bought her tickets to a Beach Boys concert, but according to police she was not spotted there the whole night. Later on, it was found out that her tickets were used at the show, but authorities were unable to find out who had used them. She is not a runaway-she and her boyfriend were planning to marry and were going to select an engagement ring the day she disappeared. She was on the school drill team. Laurie is the eldest of 5, and was a talented guitar player, worked for the school newspaper and was active in church.
Today she would be 49 years old. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and is 5'0" with a weight of 110 lbs and a brown mole on her right cheek. She was last seen in long hooded navy blue coat similar to a monk's robe, a tan sweater, tan plaid pants, and blue denim shoes with crepe soles.
I really don't know what to make of this one. Her case is classified as a non-family abduction. I wonder if the person who used her tickets that night is the one who possibly did her harm? I also wonder if maybe they checked out the boyfriend. Maybe he picked her up and they got in a fight that ended wrong? Of course there's always the possibility of stranger abduction. It just seems suspicious that she vanished the day her and her boyfriend here supposed pick up their engagement rings. Possibly one of them didn't want to go through with it.
There was an update one year ago about the case "heating up". A white male (witness) claims to have seen the high school senior associate with someone in a white truck with a "van-like back end" with a darker colored door around 4:15 PM. Investigators continue to follow leads, and have even interviewed Ted Bundy as a possible suspect, who later proved to be in Utah at the time. Investigators also said majority of child abductions are somehow family involved, and continue to follow up on that route as well. Laurie running away is not even a consideration-she had her whole life ahead of her-she was about to graduate from Ferris High School and was about to get married that summer. She was also very close to her family, who continue to look for her to this day.
Laurie's purse was never found, but whoever took her used the tickets for the Beach Boys concert. This makes me believe the person who took her is most likely someone she knew. I do not know what the motive could have been, but this just seems like a personal encounter to me. I can't see a random stranger or serial killer committing the typical "sex-crime", then using the tickets for a Beach Boys concert, unless maybe they sold them for money. Both the tickets being used (if not sold by the person who did it) show there are two people out there at least who have knowledge of what happened to Laurie. The perpetrator themselves going seem like a risky move...but if the person who is responsible for Laurie's disappearance went, it makes it all the more personal...angry and aggressive statement, even. Her case started out with ten potential suspects, all could not be 100% ruled out. Decades later, her case is still active.
